Seeking the Next 1% (and how to find it)

1% lower body fat
“get 1% better every day”
Hell, we even have recommendations for a target rate of bodyweight loss of 1% rate of loss per week.
Early in our training careers, that 1% is easy to take.
Just training a little harder, eating tighter, sleeping better, or taking that supplement will give us that 1% (and more).
But the further we progress, the harder that one 1% is to take.
Eventually, you will likely have considered or have already dipped into alternative methods or things like PEDs and you will experience a little boost.
But at some point, that also runs out and you start asking yourself: “Do I need to push harder?” “Do I need to take more?” “What’s the most “optimal” strategy for ‘x’?”
Here’s the reality:
To continue to take that 1%, it’s likely not another thing you’re missing.
You’re just going to need to tap into a level of execution you haven’t had before, for longer....especially for those of us without the superior genetics.
You will need to be METICULOUS with your execution on all variables to be lucky to COMBINE for that 1%.
So to help make sure you you keep finding that 1%, the question I want you to ask yourself is:
“On a scale of 1-10 (10 being perfect), how PERFECT was my execution today?”
Assess on all fronts:
Training
Cardio
Nutrition
Sleep
Supplements
Your MENTAL GAME
You MUST be brutally honest with yourself. Don’t round up and give yourself a 10 if it was a 9.5.
IME, it’s crazy how much leeway we give ourselves over time and still expect to get that 1%.
You start skipping meals in the off-season.
You lick that last little bit of peanut butter off your spoon in prep.
You stay up later doom-scrolling on social media.
You miss cardio sessions.
Or hell, your mental game starts to slip — you become chronically stressed, anxious, or depressed hyper-focusing on what you don’t have, and you think pushing harder will hide your lack of emotional regulation.
Those things aren’t level-10 execution.
The only way to bring awareness to this and stop this cycle in its tracks is to track that 1-10 scale DAILY for a period of time. You’ll be amazed at how often you’re not at a 10.
Then, it’s up to you to make the adjustments and execute with surgical precision.
Not everyone can go there. And most won’t.
But if you start nailing those 10s for long periods of time, you’ll find that 1% and then some.
HOW PERFECTLY WILL YOU EXECUTE TODAY?
